This is one of those “Holy Smokes!!” renditions of Stairway that leave you in awe of what is just a superlative talent on guitar. From the inventiveness of his arrangement, to the cleanness of his execution, Lucas just slays on this version of Stairway starting from the solo through to the end of the song. His guitar sounds fantastic – no buzzing & great tone – and his stellar whole neck runs with his classical flourishes and flamenco meets Hedges right hand work just burn through the later section of Stairway with the intensity few can pull off.
Word is that Lucas is working on a full length version to be posted soon. Here’s hoping that he can equally coax the majesty and softness from the song along with the intensity shown here.
I don’t want to say too much – I just want you to listen and to remember: Stairway is only verboten in Guitar Center. Never be scared to take it on and see what you can do with it. Lucas takes us to school and shows a mastery of the instrument while sharing his obvious love for the song. Enjoy!
